NEW DISTRICT SCHOOLS
University Highlands District's 41 Elementary School
The Board of Education is pleased to officially announce the name of Burnaby’s 41st elementary school that will open in September 2010. It will be known as University Highlands and is located in the new Highlands neighbourhood that is part of the Simon Fraser University community.
Upon invitation, more than 70 names were submitted from the Burnaby community for the Board to consider. The name was derived from a combination of these submitted names and follows a long standing district practice of naming new schools after the geographic area in which the school is located.
