Burnaby School District's 33 elementary, 7 community and 8 secondary schools offer a comprehensive kindergarten through Grade 12 educational program (in English and French Immersion) consisting of more than 200 provincially and locally developed educatio
nal programs and services.
Students in British Columbia graduate from secondary school upon the successful completion of Grade 12. Programs are designed to provide all students with the courses necessary to enter university, college, or other post-secondary education as well as the skills and training necessary to pursue career and vocational opportunities. In addressing the wide diversity of student needs, the district also provides specialized support services for students with exceptional learning needs.
Elementary schools provide educational programs for students in Grades Kindergarten through Grade 7. Secondary schools provide educational programs for students in Grades 8 through 12. IN addition, Burnaby School District's community schools each serve the specific educational, recreational and social needs of their respective communities.
The Burnaby School District also provides educational support and services for provincial resource programs within the district. These resources, which serve students from across the province include the BC Provincial School for the Deaf (elementary and secondary), the Provincial Outreach Program, the Provincial Oral Program for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Students, Fraser Park Secondary Program,and Maples Secondary Program.
Schools are organized into district zones which are based on geographical attendance areas. There are four district zones in Burnaby.
