HOME Page Specifics

The page is set up on the premise of Repeating Regions (reference in the CMS HELP - under FAQ's: Defining Repeatable Regions.

A change on the home page may need to be reflected on the Home Page feeds distributed on the Elemenatary Schools. Be sure to change in both spots if neccessary.

Be aware for the Home Page:

  • The Title should appear in Capital Letters
  • The Title has Heading 2 Formatting applied to it
  • The Title is always linked to something (ie. website/PDF/htm page) - this is a 2 fold thing as it also constrained by the website original formatting - you HAVE to link the title
  • If the link is an external website or PDF, the link should be 'target New Window'
  • The body of info has Paragraph Formatting applied to it

Be aware for the Home Page Elementary News Feeds:

  • Keep it very brief and concise as the space the feed appears is very limited - usually a phrase for the title and a brief description of what to expect
  • The link is title written: ie. Superintendent Report Released 2011
  • The body of both the title hyperlink and the descriptor has Paragraph Formatting applied to it
  • Once the hyperlink is applied - the predetermined formatting make the link bold and underlined
  • Links in the feeds has to be ABSOLUTE PATHS as they are being displayed in external websites: ie. http://sd41.bc.ca/trustees/meetings/board_meetings.htm (MUST type/copy in the full url)
  • To visually see an example the feed, it is the copy appearing in the right hand column scrolling under the 'What's New @ SD41?' section.
Parents Section

The corresponding section in the Elementary Schools feeds:

NEEDS TO BE edited as well; both sections at the same time.

It is IMPERATIVE that when filling out the hyperlinks in the CMS for pages:

  • Community | SCHOOLS
  • Parents Section | SCHOOLS
  • Registration | SCHOOLS
  • Students Section | SCHOOLS

All the above pages are being fed directly to the Elementary School Sites and therefore need ABSOLUTE PATES (i.e.) http://sd41.bc.ca/budgets_polices/input.htm - must be exact in terms of entry) to websites and District pages otherwise if not done in their entirity, the link will be BROKEN.
